Gracie's pups were born at night, and though Grace was quite casual about the whole thing, we certainly had suspicions when she refused cooked hamburger!
The first two were chocolates-- boy and a girl
By 2:00 Grace had whelped 7 lovely puppies: 2 girls and 5 boys!
Fortunately, she made up for missing her burger, with TWO bowls of French Vanilla ice cream--lots of sugar, calcium, and protein to help make milk for 7 hungry babies
We a wonderful pup available here at Golden Gate Labradoodles available to go home to a suitable family this week.
"Twinkle":
She will mature to around 28-30 lbs. with a soft curly coat. Twinkle is a total love-bug and wants nothing more than to cuddle with her family. She is sleeping through the night in a crate, doing well with house training, knows a few basic commands, and is walking on a leash. Twinkle is suitable for most families but would like a family with someone around a lot of the time--she would hate to see her love dissipating into an empty house! She is confident and outgoing, and enjoys the company of other dogs.
Twinkle was born on July 2nd. and her parents are "Willo" and "Grady" (who is also the sire of our most recent litter with Grace, just born this week.) You can see the information about the parents on our friends at Greenwood Park's site.
Caidy & Roscoe's pups have opened their eyes and their ears, which had both been sealed for two weeks. While they can only see a few feet in front of them, they have started to lift their heads and peer curiously in response to noises and movement.
We are gradually introducing the pups to new smells, surfaces, and places around the house
The pups are not sure what to think, but very quickly they will be come accustomed to variation in their environment, which will help them in their ongoing development
Most of the time, the pups remain quietly in their whelping box until Mama Caidy pops in for their next feeding
Eat and sleep, and eat, sleep sleep sleep...
Imagine curling up with these little heavenly bodies in your bed?
With Caidy's intelligent and interactive good-nature and Roscoe's confident and affectionate temperament, we are expecting out-of-this-world temperaments from these little stars! Introducing: "Sirius", "Sputnik", "Triton", "Rocket", "Lyra", & "Halley" (aka "Violet").
We are enjoying Caidy and Roscoe's sweet and easy-going pups, who spend their days in their whelping box under the table in the sunny office, quiet and happy. Of course, when Mama Caidy jumps in, everyone pipes up with soft little mewlings and a scrabbling and tumbling towards breakfast ...or "second breakfast" or "third", as the case may be!
The pups are black now, but there is a chance that several may develop to the rare "Blue" shade, which is an elegant charcoal grey with blue undertones
The pups are getting a lot of gentle handling several times a day as part of our Early Neurological Stimulation practices
This little girl is not convinced about the "stimulation" part
The pups are nursing every couple of hours and to keep up her weight, Caidy is eating 3 BIG meals a day consisting of a mix of raw burger, cooked liver, kibble, generously annointed with salmon oil, a calcium supplement, probiotics, and other tasty additions that we have that day such as salmon skin or other meats.
Caidy is an extremely smart and observant girl...so much so, that I am pretty sure she has "observed" that while I am NOT a night person, I do bound out of bed pretty early with a 4:45 AM alarm ready to go (to my son's rowing practice!) Keeping that in mind, Miss Caidy very considerately waited until 4:46 to let me know that I had better be ready for her new puppies...soon...and by 5:05, the first of her six precious pups with Roscoe (Manor Lake Apollo) had made its appearance:
(Click on the individual images to view them in large format)
The first boy is a chubby fellow!
By 11:00, all six puppies had been born
Fours boys and two girls!
Caidy enjoyed her mid-way snack of some delicious CHEESE!
Auntie Bibi, our resident "Labra-doula" would like nothing better than to take care of these sweet babies
Not for you Beebs!
The pups were born unusually robust and active, and even at only a couple hours old, were dragging themselves across the box to find the puppy pile!
